FIRST GENERATION


1. Alexander Stirling (photo) was born in 1790 in Dumbartonshire, Scotland.(1) He was christened on 15 Aug 1790 in Cumbernauld, Dumbarton, Scotland. (2) The christening record listed Alexnders fathers name as "Alexander Stirling". There was no information about his mother. He died in South America.(3)

Alexander and his wife emigrated to South America in 1820 and established in Uruguay in 1823.

Alexander worked as an ebonist in the Imperial Palace of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and in Buenos Aires, Argentina making the door of the Cathedral of Buenos Aires, before he established in Uruguay. In Uruguay he made a society with Robert Young and bought land in the west part of the country around the year 1825.


He was married to Catherine Erskine (daughter of Andrew Erskine and Margaret Anderson) on 25 Jul 1813 in Minnigaff, Kirkudbright, Scotland.(4) Catherine Erskine (photo) was born on 14 Mar 1794 in Mengoff, Kirkendbright, Galloway, Scotland.(5) She was christened on 14 Mar 1794 in Minnigaff, Kirkudbright, Galloway, Scotland. (6) Alexander Stirling and Catherine Erskine had the following children:

child10 ix. Alejandro Stirling was born in Uruguay.(14) Alejandro died very young.
child11 x. Alexander Stirling was born after 1820 in Uruguay. (15) He died between 1839 and 1852 in During The Big War in Uruguay. (16)

After the arrival of that couple to Uruguay a son, also called Alexander was born and he was killed some years later during the civil uruguayn war, called the Big War (1839-1852). After this the family received in property two important farms as an indemnity for that crime.
