FIRST GENERATION

1. Joseph Sterling was born in 1741 in Derry, N.Ireland. ⁽¹⁾ He resided Aston, Chester Co. Pennsylvania in 1762 in Aston, Chester, Pennsylvania.⁽²⁾ Was taxed 9 shillings as a single Freeman. He resided Londonderry, Chester, Pennsylvania in 1763 in Londonderry, Chester, Pennsylvania. ⁽³⁾ Was Taxed 1 pound. He died on 27 Nov 1813 in Derry, Westmoreland, PA.⁽⁴⁾ Joseph was 72 years old. He was buried after 27 Nov 1813 in Old Salem Cemetery, Derry, Westmoreland, PA. ⁽⁵⁾ Joseph probably had two children who died before maturity, as it will be noted that in 1783 he was taxed for eight in his family, which would indicate the presence of six children.

He was married to Mary Porter about 1767/68 in Westmoreland, PA. ⁽⁶⁾ Mary Porter was born in 1734. She died on 25 Aug 1822 in Derry, Westmoreland, PA. She was buried after 25 Aug 1822 in Old Salem Cemetery, Derry, Westmoreland, PA. Tombstone: In Memory of Mary consort of Joseph Stirlen died Aug 25 1822 aged 88 years Joseph Sterling and Mary Porter had the following children:
